How to Forgive

This week we are continuing our series, How to be Happy in Tribulation. We are looking at seven mindsets, or spiritual disciplines that will enable us to walk in joy and contentment while overcoming tribulations. The second of these mindset is Graciousness or the ability to forgive.

You and I were not created to judge. God is very clear that He is the only judge who is full of righteousness and justice. Judging others and holding on to unforgiveness brings us nothing but hurt and pain. When we hold on to offenses, we only enslave ourselves. God created us to be free from offense and bitterness by giving us the ability to forgive others.

'And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.' Luke 17:4 KJV

Gracious people are happy people who choose to focus on the good and who keep their eyes on God’s love. A forgiving heart remembers how much He cares for you and how much He has done for you. Give away the love of God the way it was given to you—without judgment. When you freely show love and grace to others, you cancel out the poison of anger and bitterness in your life. Give the gift that you were so freely given.

Lovingly,
