This week we are finishing up the series, Restoring Foundations. We have been discovering biblical truths about 5 fundamental realities that affect every aspect of our lives. Our last lesson covers Reality #5, The Sanctity of Life.
Abortion, euthanasia and assisted suicide are morally wrong. When any one of these forms of killing occur, we are taking a human life. We are depriving that person of their right to life, depriving God of His claim on that person’s life and depriving the world of their blessing.
'...Thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made… My substance was not hidden from thee, When I was made in secret...Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; And in thy book all my members were written....' Psalm 139:13-16 KJV
Tim Tebow and James Robison are two well-known people who were candidates for abortion; one because of danger to his mother and the other because of rape. While rape, incest and saving a mother’s life account for less than 1% of abortions, the impact just these two men have made in their lifetimes could have been snuffed out before they had a chance to discover their destinies. Think about that.
Unborn babies are the most innocent and the most helpless of people, which makes them the most deserving of our protection. When Psalm 11:3 asks, What can the righteous do, the answer is that we can stand up in our culture for the lives of the innocent. We have the power of God inside us and the truth of His Word equipping us to rebuild the foundations and strengthen the Church.
